About

Iā€™m a South African gay artist, living with a disability. Growing up in Cape Town I was exposed to wonderful landscapes, mountains, sunsets over the sea and nature in general. Watching sunsets from the beach or a hill was enthralling, seeing the clouds and sky change colour as the sun moves lower towards the horizon. I guess this is one of the reasons why I enjoy rich colours.

At age 4 I had an accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury, which left me with physical limitations, mainly in my right leg. As a result I grew up spending much time in introverted activities: reading, collecting, drawing. I used to enjoy creative outlets, but through my schooling the last thing that I believed I could have a passion for is art and painting.

I studied commerce and qualified as a professional management accountant. By this time I had moved to Johannesburg and was working in banking. A number of years into corporate life I grew disillusioned and discovered a spiritual path. It was during a sabbatical in 2012 that I discovered that I had a talent for and enjoyed creating art. I began art classes with my teacher, (Ina Millman), and attended numerous art workshops.

I have since returned full time to corporate life, and create art part time when I can.

I enjoy painting sunsets, cloudscapes, landscapes, and whimsical abstracts, and love colour - though the idea of painting greyscale images has piqued my interest.
